Don't let the title fool you! As a Junior Designer, I'm involved in the design process, intimately, every step of the way from concept to sales. Mazu is a print driven company, which means spending hours working on print artwork on Photoshop and occasionally Illustrator. It's my responsibility to communicate with the factory on editing artwork, checking in, reviewing strike-Off's (and that they meet our high quality standard), and source any new fabric we might be using for the following season. Once that is completed, I'm usually compiling Tech Packs, measuring samples, checking in SMS, and communicating with the factory to perfect the fit of new blocks for the new swim season! As Office Assistant, I also help manage e-commerce side of the business, such as invoicing, inventory, order processing and fulfillment, and customer service.

2023/2024 MOODBOARD

I begin my design process by first compiling a report of silhouettes/prints/colors that are trending for the following design year. Once the core color card has been chosen, the team begins to shop the market for trending design details and prints.

PRINT DEVELOPMENT
2023/2024 PRINTS
Once Trend and Market research has been completed, we begin to research and shop prints. Mazu prides itself on using designer level artwork made in house or sourced from artists from New York, Paris, and beyond. As part of the design team, I've assisted in editing and re-coloring seamless patterns, featured in sometimes up to 4 different colorways. The horizontal strip pattern (pictured on right) was originally created by me in Adobe Illustrator. The rest were prints I edited and re-colored. Once the artwork is picked and ready, I'm responsible for sending the color card, and factory files (including artwork) to our factory.

2023 TECH PACKS
The most integral part of my position is developing new blocks/silhouettes for the next swim season! One of the biggest contributions I've made working for Mazu is standardizing their Tech Pack development. Before, the company relied on just spec sheets and B.O.M's to communicate to the Factory about a design. Since then, I've built on these past tech packs to better communicate with the factory through the use of points of measurements sheet, corrections to outdated graded spec's, adding a construction page, and even adding a simple design page to the front, with notes on what design features are included in each garment, along with technical sketches, some drawn by me in Adobe Illustrator. ASSIST IN PHOTOSHOOT PRODUCTION
2023 PHOTOSHOOT
I've had the opportunity to assist in the photoshoot production from concept to day of photoshoot. I've helped conduct research for concept, collaborated with Creative Director and Brand Strategist on styling and merchandising of products for day of photoshoot. As Office Assistant, I was responsible for arranging lunches, set-up, and collecting BTS content for future promotions.
